Why should we meditate?
This question Why Mediate? is as good as asking Why Eat? Is it necessary to take a bath everyday? Why take medicine when we are unwell? Well, if we know the answers to these questions, then we know that meditation is as important as eating, breathing, bathing. Understand that life is a boon, a blessing. And you learn to live only when you meditate.
So, in a way, meditation gives right knowledge and the right training to handle life. A blind man needs a stick to walk safely, but if we can cure his blindness, then he can do without that stick. Most of us are metaphorically blind. The eyes of our mind are shut. We need to open up our inner eyes – the eyes of our mind and then we’ll be able to enjoy the every-flowing bliss of life. And then everything will be clear – meditation gives pristine clarity towards our life.
Meditation is a way of life. It is to be lived. We have a vast reservoir of energy in us, lying unused, untapped. Once we get in touch with this energy, our life changes from just being an ordinary to a divine one. Meditation is being in tune with our inner energy source.
Life throws up many challenges and if we do not have the right tools to face these, then we’ll fail in our task. These are tools of patience and tolerance. There are scores of people fighting mental problems – suicides are happening in large numbers. You cross the borderline and end up in a psychiatric ward.
Remember that in this fast-paced life, we have to live with competitions which are nerve-wrecking. Then there is a bombardment of advertisements on TV, newspapers, magazines and internet which puts a lot of strain on our minds. This explosion creates false desires. This is the century of exhibitionism – people earn to show off, vanity is on constant display. All this leads to immense pressure on the mind, resulting in a sense of insecurity and lack of trust. Relationships and families start breaking apart.
Meditation relieves you of all these pressures and artificial living. You begin to see the world with clarity and wisdom. When you see how fickle the world is and understand impermanence, it opens up new avenues for you. The peace experienced during meditation works as a balm, soothing the mind. Remember, no one gives you pain – it is you who have induced pain on yourself. See life retrospectively – how you have lived and what mistakes you made unknowingly. Once you do, then it will become much easier for you to make the transition from living ignorantly to living consciously.
Meditation is being with our true self; being able to control all activities of the mind and senses a well as making the right choices. Meditation is an antidote to the mounting stress and tension. The tremendous transformation that meditation can bring to you can be derived only by delving into its experiences with the child-like innocence.
Active Meditation - Urja Sakriya Dhyan
Mind is always restless, always in a state of flux. It is difficult for us to sit in the silent mode, to be in a relaxed state of mind. What to say about meditation, even simple relaxation is difficult. We need to undergo catharsis to remove all the repressions, all the emotional clouds, all the useless chattering that goes on in the mind. When we achieve this state, we’ll be able to relax totally.
Urja Meditation or Dynamic Meditation is based on ancient methodology of a special breathing technique called Kapalbhati which involves strong and forceful exhalations. This process brings about catharsis which cleanses the inner recesses of the mind – and then mindfulness becomes easy. This exercise can give excellent results if done with conviction. You will glide into a state where mind will be totally at peace, relaxed, energized. Layers upon layers will get clearer and once all these are cleared and there is emptiness, then there will come this bright light of consciousness.
Meditation is not meditating upon something but just being with oneself. There is no movement, no flickering – only being fully in the moment, in the NOW! When a person meditates, he loses all restlessness, his thinking stops and in that moment, he is a pool of energy. He becomes tremendously powerful.
All meditation techniques of Anandmurti Gurumaa are backed with soulful music which is especially composed for the particular method. With easy-to-follow instructions, meditation becomes a joyful journey. How to Choose a Meditation Technique
Every individual is different from one another thus master is like a scientist who invents new methods for the particular need of the subject. There cannot be just one method sufficient for all human beings. To flush out repressions and pressures of mind such methods are required which bring catharsis. Until all the emotional baggage is unloaded, the fog cleared from mind it will be difficult to move into meditation. Mantra based meditations are best suited for amateurs. As the mediator progresses there are subtle methods like Vipassana, Nishkriya, Shwason ka Vigyaan.
For children Tratak and Ram ras are beautiful devices. It is only master who can decide which method will be good for the person. One should avoid doing potpourri of various methods. Each method needs time to grow on us, minimum three months are required for one method to be constantly practiced. There are different schools of meditation so knowing in depth the philosophy and wisdom then only one can really understand their meditational method. Meditation Retreats: communion with the master
For the ones who want to understand and experience the inner world of profound tranquility, Gurumaa has been conducting meditation camps round the year, at various places. Five days of retreat with the master revitalize and nourish the soul, healing the wounds of mind, afflicted for ages… dissolving into the ocean of pure bliss!
Master is the door
Many a times seekers try to meditate on their own, absolutely oblivious of the intricacies involved. Sometimes they take help of the revered ancient holy books or refer to the meditation techniques taught by great mystics in their times. But because of lack of guidance when a leap beyond mind seems light years away, they just despair. In reality, there is no need to despair but to learn meditation from an enlightened master. Master acts as a door through which disciple can pass through and be one with the divine.
Oodles of energy
Luminous presence of an enlightened master creates a highly charged field of consciousness paving the way for seekers to travel far more easily and faster than alone. When meditating with the master, one becomes more open and receptive allowing immense positive energies to enter one’s being which brings great transformations.
One consciousness
Blissful stream of bountiful blessings of the living master vibrates through the congregation of seekers striving to delve within. It creates an ambience of one consciousness that flows into each other bridging the gaps of individual abilities.
